Minutes of the Alpaca Research Foundation Meeting
June 17, 2008
Present were Abe Rosenbloom, Patricia Craven, Michelle Ing, Karen Baum, Lisa Williamson and Patrick Long. Allan Dewald was not present. Randy Larson joined later.
The meeting was called to order at 9:08 pm ET.
Presidents Report: Annual self assessment is due this month. Minutes and Treasurer’s reports will be posted on the website, www.alpacaresearchfoundation.org , in a timely fashion. Some results of research projects are not available until results have been published in scientific journals. There was discussion of the ARF sponsored lecture at the AOBA Annual Conference.
Secretary’s Report: May 19 minutes were approved, with modification, by Patricia and seconded by Lisa. Passed unanimously.
Treasurer’s Report: The report was discussed (see attachment for 13 May-12 June 08). Approved by Patricia and seconded by Lisa. Passed unanimously.
Development Committee Report: The stud raffle was very successful raising $18,000; $14,700 was for the Legacy breeding. Michelle Black was at the annual AOBA conference for final sales of tickets. The ARF PowerPoint presentation will become available to affiliates. Ruthanne McCaslin is working on getting a breeding donated.
MAF & LMRG Update: Allan and Pat have a MAF meeting to attend June 27, 2008 in Denver, CO.
ARF Sponsored Scientific Meeting 2008: Fiber, choanal atresia and white paper (writing up support of genetic camelid research) task forces are working on ideas.
The ISOCARD meeting will be March 11-14, 2009 in Tunisia.
The annual International Camelid Veterinary meeting in Corvallis, OR may be the same dates.
Seven proposals were discussed.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday at 9:00 ET on July 29, 2008.
Karen moved to adjourn the meeting, Pat seconded with all in favor at 10:49pm ET.
